Green’s Lick (Bent Creek, Mountain Bike)
// March 14th, 2009 // Asheville Biking
With 2.5 miles of advanced single-track that drops 800 feet in a constant barrage of high berms, rolling whoop-dedos, and big jumps, Green’s Lick is a local favorite. For about a two hour ride we like Deer Lake Lodge, left on Wolf Branch, right on 479E, left on Ingles Field Gap, at Five Points straight to North Boundary to Green’s Lick. Bomb Green’s Lick down, right on 479C and left on Lower Sidehill to get back to the parking lot.
Directions from Asheville: Take I-240 W to I-26 E and get off on Exit 2, NC 191. Turn left and head south on NC 191 for 2 miles. Turn right at the stoplight onto Bent Creek Ranch Road about 2 miles. We like the parking lot off 479 (dirt road) just past the Hardtimes trailhead parking.

If you are heading to Bent Creek for the mountain biking, this is indeed the trail to do. The long descent is fast and furious with plenty of chances for carnage.
It’s a heck of a climb to get there, but a downhill that is really worth it. It’s a must-do if you’re in Bent Creek.
advguides saved me an extra day of riding sweet single trax by getting straight to the adventure that i was looking for on my short vacation! i couldn’t have asked for more informative info that fit my needs perfectly. can’t wait for the chattanoga site.
thanks advguides!
Green’s lick is a one of a kind downhill for sure. One of the most wide-open downhills with the most whoops and berms in a 2 mile stretch you can find. The first time I climbed up there I thought I would never get there (count on a min. of 45 minutes to an hour to get up to greens lick) but it is worth it and seems pretty short now that I have done it a bunch.
I agree with the others, the climb blows…but it is worth it. Loosen up the forearms before the descent, bc they will be screaming at the bottom!!!
Good Day!!! advguides.com is one of the most excellent informational websites of its kind. I enjoy reading it every day. advguides.com rocks!
