Beech Mountain Resort

Beech Mountain Resort, located in the High Country of North Carolina, has a peak elevation of 5,506 feet, making it the highest ski resort in the Eastern United States. Since 1967, Beech offers the total winter package, with day and night skiing, ice skating, and a mile-high village experience. The mountain offers some of the best views in the state from a chairlift and a unique “double-sided” ski experience, with numerous runs off the front side of the mountain, and the popular “Oz” run off the backside.

A few years ago, the resort made significant improvements in their snowmaking department when 10 SMI Automated Polecats were added to the automated system, bringing the total number to 18. The automated system is now located on every slope to give Beech Mountain Resort the largest snowmaking capacity in the resort’s history.

Beech Mountain is the highest ski resort in the Eastern United States and boasts an average of 80” of snow per year. Last year, more than 100” of snow blanketed the slopes and Beech Tree Village, turning the mountain into a winter-wonderland. Not only does Beech have some of the best natural terrain in North Carolina as well as one of the most picturesque mountain villages in the South, but it is also one of the most affordable ski experiences you can find in the U.S. This season, Beech has recommitted itself to affordability by introducing the 30/20 ticket plan, which offers $30 day/twilight tickets Monday through Friday and $20 night tickets Monday through Thursday.

Each year, Winterfest at Beech Mountain brings a family-friendly weekend of activities that are not to be missed by those looking for a change of pace. The big event weekend features events such as the Cardboard Box Derby, the Bathing Beauty Ski Contest and a Snowshoe Race – all of which are sure to bring smiles and applause from both participants and spectators.
