Fishing In Valle Crucis

Fly Fishing In Valle Crucis: Fishing in the small town of Valle Crucis is a great option that is close to Boone and good for a fun afternoon of fly fishing for mostly stocked trout that include a good mix of Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. The clear, swift flowing water of the Watauga River as it flows through the Valle Crucis Community Park – a 22 acre park just behind the Mast General Store – is a great local fishing spot that is ideal for beginning anglers looking to work on their technique and land a few nice trout in the process. Fishing is best in fall and spring as the warmer water and lack of catch and release fishing make this a tough place for trout to survive through summer.

To get started exploring the fly fishing in Valle Crucis, take the easy, paved 1-mile loop along the river to explore great access points to the Watauga River and look for numerous fishing trails down to the river and get ready for a chance to land a few trout.
