Curtis Creek Boulders

Curtis Creek Boulders | Old Fort

Curtis Creek Boulders (Old Fort, Pisgah National Forest): A nice collection of conglomerate boulders located just a short drive from Asheville make for a good destination when looking for some new rock to play on. The largest boulder features some fun moderates, while satellite boulders offer up a handful of additional moderates and some select hard climbs. Developed by a small group of Asheville-based climbers around 2014, these boulders offer a great option for snowy days in Asheville as the lower elevation generally makes for warmer temps.

Curtis Creek Bouldering Areas:

  • Burning Man: First of the boulders cleaned and climbed here. This huge boulder has a lot of variations possible.
  • Creek Boulder: A single boulder that sits in the creek that’s fairly hard to see from the road.
  • Green Man: Across the creek by the bridge pullout is a large face with several fun problems on it.
  • The Brain: The Brain Boulder is the highest quality block but there are several other great problems up the hill North of the Brain topout.
  • The Gate: an area across the creek at the Gate before the campground. Easier problems.
  • Twin Slabs: Two great slabs on the hillside West of Curtis Creek road just before the Gate.
