When thinking of the lazy days of summer, who can resist bobbing down the river on an inner tube? The Brevard area has a couple of great options for some floatin’ fun either on the French Broad River with a trip through Headwater Outfitters or on the Davidson River with rental tubes from Davidson River Rafting. Both Brevard river tubing trips offer something different. On the French Broad, Headwater Outfitters manages shuttles, while tubing the Davidson is a self-supported venture where tubes must be rented and tied on your own vehicle and you must manage the shuttle (or walk back to the car). For the Davidson, the recommended put-in is at the bridge leading into the Davidson River Campground, then floating for about an hour downstream. If you haven’t left a car, the Estatoe Trail can be walked back to the parking at the bridge. For the French Broad River option, Headwater Outfitters offers a 2-3 hour lazy float trip where they provide the tubes, life jackets, and the transportation.
