Hit The Lake: Lake Lure is the number one attraction and the reason so many families visit the area year after year. Visitors come to enjoy the 720 acres of lake, sparkling clean beach area, and the incredible Blue Ridge mountain range including Chimney Rock. Both motor and non-motorized boats enjoy the lake. Just remember, you need an annual boat permit before placing a private boat on Lake Lure. Family Adventures

There are several options available for access to the lake. You can purchase a daily, weekly, monthly or annual boat permit through the Town of Lake Lure. Launches for boats, kayaks and canoes are located at Washburn Marina and behind the ABC Liquor Store on Memorial Highway.  The deep, clear lake has a maximum depth of 104 feet and contains various species of fish inhabit Lake Lure, such as large mouth and small mouth bass, trout, bream/bluegills, crappie, white bass, carp and several species of catfish.   Map & Directions to Lake Lure

Biking in Western North Carolina

Buffalo Creek Park: This 200-acre park with several miles of mountain bike and hiking trails and picnic facilities is located along Buffalo Creek just north of Rumbling Bald Resort.  The park will be extended by 7-10 miles of trail through rugged backcountry, ascending another 2,000 feet to reach ridge lines and scenic viewpoints. The trail will connect with Chimney Rock State Park on the north side of Rumbling Bald Mountain. A mountain bike-accessible cirque of the entire northern valley is planned, that circumnavigates Lake Lure in a 30-40 mile trail that summits several surrounding peaks.  Map & Directions to Buffalo Creek Park

Fish The Rocky Broad River: This beautiful river offers access for fishing only as it runs through the town of Chimney Rock on its way to Lake Lure. Along the Rocky Broad River, a series of pools and rapids make for excellent fishing opportunities where trout lie waiting to put up a big fight.
