Watauga River Whitewater Paddling

Whitewater Paddling In Western North Carolina

Presented By

When it comes to whitewater paddling, Western North Carolina is truly among the best of the best. Home to some of the Eastern U.S.’ only temperate rainforests, as well as thousands of acres of protected forests full of creeks, rivers and waterfalls, it’s easy to see why the mountains of North Carolina are home to some of the most scenic and exciting whitewater paddling in America. With great whitewater paddling options like the Watauga River Gorge, The Elk River, Linville River Gorge, Green River Gorge and many other incredible runs, it’s easy to see why whitewater paddling enthusiasts have been flocking to North Carolina whitewater for years.  Check out this compilation of some of our favorite whitewater paddling videos from Western North Carolina.

Paddling The Linville Gorge

Linville 2.5Joaquin Day 3 Part 2. North Carolina was predicted to receive the most amount of rainfall from this storm but most places only had 3-4 inches. Luckily for us, the Linville has a rather large drainage with plenty of flat area for the rain to soak into the water table. Here are few lines from our run yesterday with blue bird skies.#JoaquinProvidesLiquidlogic Kayaks / Astral / Sweet Protection / Werner Paddles

Brevard Area Whitewater

Joaquin Day #1Joaquin day #1. When deciding to stay off of committing runs due to flashing waters, the day took an exploratory turn. We ran Looking Glass Creek, Upper North Fork French Broad, and had a session at the Alexander Wave on the French broad. Tomorrow looks to be the day for perfect lightning riding in the southeast.#JoaquinProvidesLiquidlogic Kayaks/ Sweet Protection/ Werner Paddles/ Astral Whitewater

Trash Can Falls | Watauga Tributary

This past weekend was the first time in around three years the high country has had enough water to paddle Trashcan Falls! Brought back great memories from the first time I got to run it with the #boone #crew in 2012/13′. Took a couple of times to get a “nice” line. I guess the third time is the charm, well sorta… #joaquin #berniewentfirst #pyranhakayaks #9rAstral / Astral Whitewater / Werner Paddles / Pyranha Kayaks

Upper Creek | Wilson Creek Area

Nice to get back out there into Upper Creek with the boys! Slides everywhere. Hopefully we will be able to link up top to bottom this year! Reminiscing of old times with Ty Brown Caldwell, Colin Hunt, and the other home-team back freshman year too. #feeltheburnPyranha Kayaks / Astral / Astral Whitewater / Werner Paddles / Kokatat
