It’s a rather easily accessible lookout point right by the road. It’s a bit too far to have a good shot at the statues though unless you have a good telephoto lens.

The drive through Iron Mountain Road is an excellent experience! This road goes through a part of the Black Hills National Forest There are tunnels, breathtaking views, “pigtail” bridges where you go under then over them. Lots of vistas and stop offs, picnic areas and trail heads. I didn’t take many pics but it was a fun drive. This was a busy driving day, but if I had more time here I would have loved to do some more hiking and even backpacking/ primitive camping

After morning rain it cleared out and we went for a drive to Norbeck Overlook has a lost of spot that you can see Mount Rushmore and they are hidden if you don’t look, we got on very top and the view it’s beautiful. But you do need to be very careful going up. There are 2 pigtails bridges, and I think 4 tunnels you drive through them.

Great view of Mount Rushmore from a distance! Nice place to stop and take a break while driving the Iron Mountain Road. Beautiful views out across the valley.
