Prefect little hidden gem! Camping is free of you sign up online in the NPS. There's no week electricity or running water. Also no one has cell service there, make sure you know how to get back you won't be able to GPS for a few miles.
Several trails to hike and other NPS camp grounds all within a few miles.

For free camping this is a very nice campground. Make time to drive out and see New River Gorge Bridge and Visitor Center. Stayed for an overnight on our way back home. No internet!

Quiet campground with a couple of moderately well maintained campsites (flattened dirt and gravel in marked out sites). Each had a fire pit, post, spot for a tent, and a picnic table. It wasn’t too busy since we were visiting right before the season kicked off (mid-May) but most people we saw stopped in for a night before leaving. The bathrooms were very clean but keep in mind, there are no sinks/running water. No campsites are directly by the river but it’s a close walk. Also, there is no cell service at the site.
Ultimately, a great spot to camp for free!

The road in is narrow but we made it back with our 28foot rv pulling a car behind
The sites are nice
Free camping
No electric
No water
Pit bathroom
We ran the generator when we needed too I think it is the most accessible park camp ground for larger rvs the others have steep hills tight turns and long un paved roads but army camp is definitely the easiest to access with a bigger rv

Primitive but awesome! Very short walk down to the beach on the New River! At the end of the very narrow Army Camp Rd.
