I have a long history with this beautiful and historic state park. Located at the corner of three states and in the foothills of the Blue Ridge escarpment, this family friendly park has something for everyone who loves the outdoors. I am a 5th wheel camper these days, but have stayed in the 1940’s CCC-built cabins and in primitive tent sites as well. All accommodations are situated in the woods among the trees and laurels. There are trails throughout the park and linking up with the Foothills Trail as well. The Barn offers square dancing on Friday nights in the Summer. The swimming area is free with park admission and has a designated pet swimming area. The camp store has expected essentials and rangers on hand to answer questions. Miniature golf, a ball field, boats & kayaks to rent. What’s not to love! Recommend to bring your bike. Golf carts are also allowed.

Recently my family picked up the state park guide and began collecting stamps, so we decided to travel up to Oconee to camp for two nights. We stayed in one of the water/electric sites and it was great! The bathhouses were conveniently close and it was pretty quiet the two weeknights we stayed. The playgrounds were nice as well, our 2 year old enjoyed it. Just be sure to hit up a grocery store beforehand, while the office/general store had a few camping related supplies, they only had snacks in terms of groceries. The only trails we attempted with our 2 year old was the Hidden Falls trail, which was 2.75 miles in and 2.75 miles back out. That one was a little rough for our little guy but the trail was great and beautiful. All in all it was a great trip and the up country of South Carolina is definitely one of my favorite areas.

We just camped there for several days. Great place and lots of space between sites. Plenty of shade trees. Be sure to check in and check the events calendar. The Rangers did a great job with the kids. TV signal very spotty. Cell service mostly nonexistent. Wifi available at office only.

This campground is my new favorite state park in South Carolina. The park is absolutely beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. The only complaint is the bath houses. They are old feeling, and are in desperate need of remodeling.

Had a great week at OSP, and we went with a cabin on the Big Lake. Everything was included except food, firewood, and charcoal. Cabin has a fully functional kitchen, air and heat and wifi with a smart tv.
