This series of cascading waterfalls—Manabezho, Manido, and Nawadaha—stands out due to its accessibility, stunning views, and cultural significance. The area is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and those seeking picturesque landscapes combined with a glimpse into the rich heritage of the region.

Adventure Guide to Visiting the Presque Isle Falls

  • Manabezho Falls: Known as the largest waterfall in the Presque Isle River system, Manabezho Falls is a majestic sight with thunderous cascades. It’s easily spotted from viewing platforms along a short walk from the parking area. The surrounding forests provide a perfect backdrop, especially during the fall when the foliage bursts into vibrant colors.
  • Manido Falls: Slightly downstream, Manido Falls captivates visitors with its tiered drops and soothing soundscapes. Its width and constantly flowing water make it ideal for photography. A bridge nearby allows different vantage points, showcasing the serene but powerful flow of the river over smooth stones.
  • Nawadaha Falls: The third in this trio is Nawadaha Falls, upstream from the other two. Though smaller, it provides a quiet, peaceful setting with minimal crowds. A trail leads visitors past rich ferns and mossy rocks to this hidden gem, offering an intimate experience of Michigan’s wilderness.

This place is beautiful and easily is easily as nice as anything in the Porkies. There is a loop trail that will only take a couple of hours, if that. I highly recommend hiking the entire trail. There are some stairs and wooden viewing platforms. There are restrooms at the parking lot. This place is beautiful and easily is comparable to the nearby Porkies. Waterfall trails never disappoint! The west side of the trail has a boardwalk and more manicured sections so I it is a bit easier of a hike. If you want to make the loop, start with the east side and finish on the west side! The boardwalk is there for your safety but, to also protect the more fragile landscape from eroding due to foot traffic. Beautiful views from sides. The east side gives more opportunity to go down on the rocks next to the water, depending on how much the river is carrying.

3 great waterfalls within a short 1-mile hike. Park up top at the rangers post and head north towards Lake Superior. Easy road access on the way back if needed.

Really neat place. TONS of stairs though and uneven ground. Neat to walk on the beach of Lake Superior and see the rocks on shore. It was a cold, drizzly day in November so we didn't have to share this beautiful slice of nature with many others
