This is such a peaceful, quiet retreat from the crowds and business of Main Street. Driving less than 5 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, you'll find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of the High County. There's a fair amount of parking, clean restrooms, and a nice trail that loops around the lake. There are numerous benches along the trail for you to sit, relax, and watch the deer or listen to a babbling brook. It's also a popular spot for dog walking.

An awesome lake to walk around. The path is wide and evenly landscaped for easy walking. The fall colors were nice. Dogs are allowed on a leash. They also allow horseback riders on some of the trails. The lake is part of the 3500 acre Moses Cone estate which can be viewed at the top of the mountain on the parkway. Parking is limited. There are clean restrooms.

This is our favorite trail all times of the year. I love the trail around the lake but you can also hike a bit more up into the woods. It’s absolutely beautiful. You can walk, or jog, have a picnic. You’ll see geese and sometimes even deer! My toddler loves to run around and play in the creek

Great trail around Bass Lake, busier than I have ever seen, and we have been visiting since 1986 or so! Perfect weather and nice to see so many enjoying the sites!
