This was a beautiful stop but that was it. All the staff were very rude especially the manager. My kids were waiting for the bathroom to open up and were accused of stealing. Drinks took forever to be made and tasted awful. Everything was way over priced. Don’t recommend wasting your time or money!

Wow! I don't know where to start! We've come to the Black Hills many times as a family before but have never ended up at Legion Lake. We were actually here twice for our two week stay in the hills. My brother and law and I the-hiked the Centennial trail and we came right by this place on our second night. They were sold out, but someone cancelled right as well walked in so we were able to stay and get a wonderful little cabin and shower after a 17 mile day. Nedra was our front desk hostess. She was wonderful and so thoughtful. We bought some cold drinks and she went to the back to also give us some free ice. We ended up putting our sore feet into that ice and it was such a blessing! Thank you Legion Lake staff for being so friendly to thru-hikers! Your lake and resort falls right along a beautiful trail and your were an oasis for a first time hiker! We came back a week later to pick up some things I had left behind (this is common of first hikes as you always carry more than you need and figure out in the first couple days what you need to get rid of). The short walk around the lake was great for our whole family to do and we even climbed some rocks. The beach is beautiful and I honestly wish we could have stayed longer!

Views were stunning and beach was nice and clean. They also have a playground at the beach which helped keep kids entertained since the water was freezing cold! Sand is a little rough on feet, kids may need water shoes

Unfussy is true something for all styles and ages this populated area has fishing hiking swimming camping cabins minutes from Custer and needles highway and the wildlife Loop iand State game Lodge this centrally located spot has something for everyone including gift shop & restaurant restrooms and small boat rentals.
