Hardest 14 mile hike I’ve ever done. Skree fields, creek crossings and 12,500. Fun and rewarding !!!

Crested Butte to Aspen is my all time favorite hike! Amazing wildflowers along the entire trail. We started at Schofield Pass, hiked to Aspen and back the next day. Start early to avoid the afternoon showers. We stopped at the top of the pass for lunch and the views.

The West Maroon Pass summit has unbelievable views. The last 1/4 mile is the hardest. A short very steep climb to the top. We stopped frequently. A lot of people do the trail down the other side to Aspen and shuttle back to Crested Butte in one day. We just did out and back from Crested Butte.

First pass of the 4-pass loop trail. This is just the beginning but the views are already breathtaking! You should arrive here early because in order to camp, you'd probably want to cross frigid air pass too.
