Toothpick Trail is a tale of two halves. The first quarter is a steep uphill climb that was moderately difficult. Once you conquer that, the trail levels out, making for a more enjoyable hike. However, beware of mountain bikers! They fly downhill at breakneck speeds, often ignoring hikers. The trail is narrow with steep drop-offs in places, making encounters with reckless riders a real danger.
