About This Adventure Destination

Aspen Mountain may be world-famous for its winter slopes, but when the snow melts, it transforms into a playground for mountain bikers. With challenging singletracks, heart-racing descents, and sweeping views of the Roaring Fork Valley, Aspen Mountain offers a summer adventure every bit as exhilarating as its winter allure.

The journey begins with a gondola ride to the summit—a unique perk that sets Aspen Mountain apart. As the Silver Queen Gondola glides upward, bikes securely hitched, you’ll feel the anticipation building. The views alone are worth the trip, but the real excitement begins when you hit the trails.

At the top, options abound. The Ajax Trail, a thrilling descent through dense pine forests, is a local favorite. This intermediate trail combines flowy sections with technical challenges, keeping you engaged from start to finish. For a true test of skill, the Aspen Mountain Summer Road winds steeply down the mountain, offering a mix of loose gravel, tight switchbacks, and fast straights that test both your control and courage.

The terrain here is as varied as the riders who tackle it. Smooth paths give way to rocky outcrops, where careful line choices and sharp reflexes are your best allies. Along the way, wildflowers streak the hillsides in bursts of color, and the scent of pine fills the air. Every turn reveals a new perspective—on the valley below, the surrounding peaks, or the sheer scope of the adventure.

By the time you reach the base, adrenaline will be coursing through your veins and your face will carry the unmistakable grin of a rider who’s conquered Aspen Mountain. Grab a post-ride drink at the Ajax Tavern to toast your descent and relive the thrills with your fellow adventurers.

2nd best bike park in Colorado. I’m grateful to ride trails like cowboy coffee, gonzo, battle axe, valhalla & French press. I’d love to see more trail maintenance and new black to double black trails built. Overall great experience. It has something for all ability levels.

Guy at the ticket office was snarky and rude when asked about riding e-bikes on the DH park tracks. As a whole - Aspen is behind the times when it comes to e-bikes. No one has been able to provide a concrete answer why the rule is in place. The bike park itself is solid, lots of vert and variety of trails. Valhalla is a sick jump track. The rental bikes are super expensive for average bikes. The rental crew seemed hungover and not to into their job. Overall - the park itself is great. The prices, bikes and staff, not so great.
