It is precisely these kinds of people who are responsible for the destruction of a natural wonder for pure selfishness!

Absolutely stunning hike to Schrecksee! 🏔️💚 We started from Hinterstein and followed the trail towards Schrecksee. It’s a hard and physically demanding hike, around 15–16 km round trip with roughly 1,000+ m elevation gain. The first sections are relatively easy, but the trail gets progressively steeper and more rocky as you climb. The final ascent is the toughest part, with steep terrain, rocks and some sections secured with cables, so good fitness, proper hiking shoes and sure-footedness are essential. But once you reach Schrecksee, the effort is completely worth it. The scenery is incredible—the turquoise alpine lake surrounded by mountains is one of the most beautiful views I’ve seen. Definitely start early, carry plenty of water and food, and allow enough time for the descent. Not a beginner-friendly hike, but highly recommended for experienced hikers!
