Located in the remote Tibesti Mountains of northern Chad, Toussidé is a stunning volcanic peak that captivates adventurers with its raw, untamed beauty. Standing proudly at over 10,000 feet above sea level, this formidable volcano features dramatic landscapes shaped by ancient lava flows. The allure of Toussidé lies not just in its towering presence but in its surrounding caldera, which offers a unique glimpse into geological history. The scene is dominated by stark contrasts between dark volcanic rock and the sandy desert, painting a surreal picture for enthusiastic trekkers and geology buffs alike.

A journey to Toussidé reveals one of Africa’s less-traveled natural wonders. Beyond its geological significance, the mountain is a testament to nature's dynamic forces. The heart of the Tibesti boasts not only striking scenery but also a rich tapestry of cultural history. Tibesti was a forbidden region for long periods of time due to war and conflict and off-limits to all travellers. NOT an easy place to get to, but really worth the trip. Bring CLEAN Potable water!!! Toussidé is a potentially active stratovolcano in Chad. Toussidé lies in the Tibesti Mountains, the large Yirrigué caldera and the smaller Trou au Natron and Doon Kidimi craters are close to it. It has an elevation of 3,265 m above sea level.
