Hiking on the wild section of Jinkou great wall is an amazing experience but do it with a guide. It is a hard long steep hike upto the mountain top and difficult to find the path without a guide. The view from the top makes the climb worth it. You get a wonderful view of the wall going up and down mountains as far as you can see. Hike on the wild wall towards Mutianyu, but at Mutianyu tower 23 they have build a road block 🚫 and you must turn back, hike the same route back and same route down the mountain. It is not a long hike (once you get to the top), but very beautiful. When you come down the guide can drive you to Mutianyu. If you start early you can still see a wild and a restored section of the great wall in one day. Suggest you check yoursel, but as I understand it, it is a legal requirement to use a guide if you hike on open section where the wall is wild. Do not go to closed sections of the Great wall. Follow the law and take care not to damage anything and do not through trash. I collected other people's trash and took it down, only stupid people pollute such a wonderful place, a true world heritage we should all protect. Highly recommend you visit china and see the great wall. The open sections are very different, you can easily visit 3-4 different sections and will enjoy a different experience each place.
