Nice hike through a classic example of the PNW forest! Evergreen trees of all types, furns, moss, and mushrooms of all kinds! Really fune to hike through! Options for trails, a tunnel to go through, and a tower to climb for awesome views of the forest, Fairview, and Bellingham! Easy access from the city! Trails are clean and well marked!

Stunning views on a clear day and we went on a clear day. The drive up to the peak was covered in leaves and debris from recent storms. The taller trees blocked some of the view, but well worth the climb.

As of about Oct 5th 2024 (probably before this date as well), they have had construction on the lower parking lot. I visited a few weeks ago, and they had the lower parking completely blocked, but the road up to the top parking was open. However, I went back last week on a weekday, and the entire park was blocked off. The road/parking was completely closed, and the trails had cones across them. No signs were posted about the closure, and we literally could not tell it would be closed at all from the Google Maps page. Normally, this is a very pretty park. It has a viewing tower at the top and an old tunnel that is open now. I would avoid this area at night for safety. It's fine during the day, just a bit sketchy at night.
