Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah is a more compact version of Bisti Wilderness, but less colorful. The most amazing thing is near the beginning of the loop: the Chocolate Mushroom Hoodoos. Our December hiking day was gorgeous and we only saw four other people. It’s one of the things I love most about New Mexico: it isn’t crowded. I enjoyed this hike, but I was much more impressed with the nearby Valley of Dreams.

What an amazing scenery. We parked at the trailhead which you can't miss. The roads can be rough especially after heavy rainfall. This is a remote area, hence carry plenty of water and some healthy snacks with you. You don't see any hoodoos from the parking lot. The trailhead is clearly signed and after 10 to 15 minutes you get to a wash where you see the first hoodoos.
