The view from the tower on Flat top mountain is amazing and 360°. You can see Sugar mountain and Beech Mountain in the distance. The back of Grandfather mountain is prominent. I also saw a radio tower that I can see when I hike the Rough Ridge trail near the Lynn cove Viaduct. Completely worth the 2 1/2 mile hike in. The trail is Gravel the whole way. It is uphill the whole way there. Trail is very wide and obviously used by horse and rider as well. There is even a hitching post at the tower. Access for the trail is from the Moses Cone manor parking or you can park on road side.
