Great trail with some good views and nice sights

We hiked the Tanawha Trail today from Price Lake up towards Cold Prong Pond. We turned around at 3 miles making it 6 RT. Parked at Price Lake and headed out through the campground. Well marked so just follow the signs and markings. This is a great trail for a walk in the woods with great variety but limited elevation gain. The trail condition was very good for January 2nd and we were lucky with the weather. The two photos show some grassy areas among the white pines. Plenty of woods and rhododendrons along the way as well. Certainly one of my favorite hikes - and not as busy as other trails in the area.

This trail was nice. It went through a ranch, so we did have to watch out for poo. Lots of that on the trail. There were also nice spots to stop and take photos if you like. The trail is marked, but be ware some of the markings are wrong. We headed in the direction of one of the signs hoping that it would lead us to the pond, but it did not. Also, this parking location is not the beginning of the trail.

Lots of space and good spot to park on the blue ridge mountain pathway. Park your car and you can go on the trail which bring you under the bridge. It’s a bit of a hike but the view is worth it.
