Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Trail is not well marked. Watch carefully for signs. Forks in the trail are not marked. We came out roughly a mile away from where we were supposed to be. Chiggers are awful out there. Still itching.

Easy to moderate little wooded trail. It is mostly dirt trails so I do not recommend for mobility impaired folks. One moderate hill to walk up. Not many views.

Good short hike, pretty.

Hiked to see sunrise on 7/28/20. Parked in caverns lot. Trail is well maintained. Shortly after leaving the picnic area, we began loop by turning left. Trail eventually merges onto a dirt road. After a bit, there is a steep decline and slightly more gradual incline. Shortly after that you will see a marker at about .8 mi. Here the trail leaves the dirt road and goes to the right. There are no overlooks on this trail, but at the .8 marker if you continue on the road a bit instead of turning right, it opens into a clearing and climbs a small hill. From here we were able to see a great sunrise over a smokey valley floor. After, we continued the loop back an easy 1.2 miles rather that return the same way, in order to avoid the steep climb. While we had a great view of sunrise in late July, I'm not sure it would be the same in Oct - Feb when the sun sets further to the south.
