- Hike to Courthouse Falls: The trailhead for Courthouse Falls is located off Forest Service Road 140 (also known as Courthouse Creek Road). It’s a short and manageable hike, approximately ¾ of a mile round trip, with minimal elevation change, making it accessible to almost all skill levels. The path winds through a shaded forest filled with rhododendrons and moss-covered rocks. Along the way, you’ll hear the soothing sounds of the creek, which adds to the tranquil experience.

  • Details: **The Falls and Swimming Spot**: What makes Courthouse Falls truly special is its captivating 45-foot waterfall that plunges into a natural swimming hole. The pool at the base is refreshing yet typically cool, even during summer months. Swimming isn’t mandatory to enjoy this site, but those inclined to take a dip should be prepared for chilly, mountain-fed waters.
  • Details: **Photography Opportunities**: The falls are particularly photogenic due to the moss-covered rocks surrounding them and the vibrant foliage in the area. Early morning or late afternoon light is ideal for capturing the waterfall with soft, natural light. Don’t forget a tripod for longer exposure shots to enhance the flow of the water in your photos.

See my trail review on Lower Courthouse Falls via Summey Cove Trail. Nice falls - we’re flowing good after weeks of rain in late July. The bridges were slippery over the creeks so watch your step due to the wet conditions - I wiped out on the biggest bridge but thankfully wasn’t injured. Be sure to visit Cody Falls just down the slope to the left as you come back up from Courthouse Falls to Summey Cove Trail (about 40’ from the top of the trail there is a descending trail to the left).

Fantastic hidden swimming hole. When we went there was no one else on the trail. Getting to the trailhead can be difficult - some steep gravel roads. The hike isn’t too long or difficult, there are stairs to the base of the falls. Highly recommend if you’re in the area looking for a quick hike or place to swim.

So we took the forest road off of 215 up to the locked gate. We continued on forest road by foot until the map location point for the falls was directly across from us on the forest road. There were no signs or markers on the road. So disappointed after the 40 minute drive and 20 minute walk not to find this place. Any suggestions where we went wrong?

Soo amazing!! Awesome swimming hole!! Gps took me right there! I highly recommend having an SUV to get up the gravel road. 2 miles round trip, and the gate was closed when I went, but there’s parking beside it! :)

Even though the road is open you still have to hike a half mile to the trail head. Always worth it.
