About This Adventure Destination

Discovering the Natural Beauty of Shark Hole

Shark Hole, located on the stunning southeastern coast of Barbados in the parish of Saint Philip, is a marvel of nature that stands out for its unique blend of serenity and geological fascination. This small, tranquil inlet is carved into the rugged coral limestone that forms much of the island’s coastline, creating a natural pool that invites visitors to unwind and appreciate its beauty. The vividly turquoise waters make it a perfect spot for those looking to escape the more crowded beaches, offering a sense of seclusion and peace.

The distinctive rock formations surrounding Shark Hole provide a fascinating example of the coral limestone geology prevalent in Barbados. These formations create a stunning natural amphitheater, with the waves of the Atlantic gently lapping against the rocks. Although the name might evoke images of its predators, Shark Hole is named more for its appearance than any actual shark presence, making it a safe and delightful spot for swimming and relaxation.

Local lore suggests that this hidden cove has been a cherished secret among Barbadians, offering a quiet retreat away from bustling tourist spots. The crystal-clear waters are ideal for casual swimming, while the surrounding cliffs offer breathtaking views of the expansive Atlantic Ocean. Shark Hole remains a peaceful oasis where visitors can connect with the untouched beauty of Barbados.

So much seaweed it takes away alllll the swimming potential. It smells a lot too. Local said that it's been like that for the last few years... every beach on the south looks a little like that so dont expect to be able to swim
