A Caribbean Paradise: Isla de Barú

Beware of this scam! First, we paid 120,000 COP for two sunbeds, everything seemed fine. When we were about to leave, they charged us 200,000 COP for a service that we hadn't received. In the end, they threatened us with paying the full amount. Anyone planning a trip to Barú should book a tour or ask directly at their hotel. I definitely wouldn't recommend going there on your own.

It's a beautiful and charming place worth visiting, but there are so many tents that there's no room to pitch your own; it's more than a monopoly. There are also quite a few street vendors, which detracts a bit from the experience. Personally, I think this beach is underrated because people still litter and don't clean it up. It's always crowded, which is a bit annoying. The food is a little expensive, and soda and water are pricey. I hope they change that because I like it, and that's all. I simply like it.

The beach in this area was, in my opinion, very dangerous. The people there were extremely pushy. If you didn't go to the spots they controlled, you were threatened and told you'd get into trouble. If you sat down on this section of the beach, you had to pay a lot of money. If you refused to pay, you were threatened with trouble again. In our case, we were simultaneously accosted by seven or eight people for money. They also took cash from us. We never felt safe and want to report this situation explicitly.

Barú Beach is a spectacular destination, with crystal-clear waters and an incredible blue hue that invites you to relax from the very first moment. The sand is soft, the atmosphere is tranquil, and the scenery is truly idyllic. It's the perfect place to disconnect, enjoy the sea, and spend an unforgettable day. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in the area and highly recommended.
