About This Adventure Destination

Camping at Edisto Beach State Park is the ultimate escape to Charleston’s coastal wilds, where the ocean breeze meets the earthy scent of ancient forests. Nestled along the Atlantic Ocean, this park offers an unparalleled mix of seaside serenity and natural adventure, perfect for those looking to unplug and reconnect with nature.

Start your adventure at the campground, which boasts sites just steps away from the surf. Wake up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, and sip your morning coffee as the sun paints the horizon in shades of gold and pink. The beachfront sites provide a front-row seat to the sea, while the shaded inland sites, nestled beneath canopies of palmettos and oaks, offer a quieter, cooler retreat.

When the beach calls, it’s just a short walk from your tent or RV. Stroll along the wide, sandy shore, where tidal pools teem with life and driftwood sculptures create a striking backdrop. Bring a kite, a frisbee, or simply a good book—it’s the perfect spot for laid-back days under the Lowcountry sun.

For adventurers, the park’s network of trails winds through maritime forests and salt marshes, showcasing the diverse ecosystems of the region. The Edisto Interpretive Trail is a highlight, leading hikers and bikers through lush greenery with views of sparkling marsh waters. Bird enthusiasts will revel in sightings of herons, egrets, and even the occasional bald eagle.

As evening falls, gather around the campfire to swap stories and roast marshmallows under a canopy of stars. The sound of the ocean serves as nature’s lullaby, lulling campers into a peaceful sleep.

Camping at Edisto Beach State Park isn’t just a getaway—it’s a communion with the natural beauty that makes Charleston’s coastline unforgettable.

There were a few trails closed down but I still got a great walk in on a beautiful 3 mi out and back trail. It's December/ low season, so there was plenty of parking and wide open trails. It was a beautiful park and I would love to walk there again.
