...not the height of just 16 m but the width of 91 m is what makes these falls here (hence also called Little Niagara Falls). This makes a huge noise when the water thunders down and the gout is severe. On the side you get pretty close to the top on a perpetually muddy footpath.

Following a 10-minute hike through an old growth forest, you can spot and admire the impressive Dawson Falls. At Dawson Falls, the Murtle River drops over lava flows that date to about 200,000 years ago. Unlike the other waterfalls in Wells Gray Provincial Park, this waterfall is not particularly high (16 meters), but relatively wide (90 meters), which is why it is sometimes called the "Little Niagara Falls". The marked hiking trail takes you quite close to the waterfall and you can also experience the spray. However, you should apply mosquito spray, as there are a lot of mosquitoes in the forest (especially in summer!). Dawson Falls are approximately 41 kilometers north of Clearwater.
