I left Mallorca early, the sea calm, with the feeling that the day was going to be special. As the coast receded into the distance, the air smelled different: salt, open horizon, promises of untamed nature. The island of Cabrera emerged like a tangible myth: stone, color, sea. As I disembarked at the main dock, I felt I had stepped onto something extraordinary: quiet paths, trails winding through hardy vegetation, modest cliffs full of character. I walked to the old castle, climbing stone steps, gazing at the endless sea on either side. The hidden coves, the cliffs, those corners where the sea crashes with restrained force… everything painted a picture of an almost untouched landscape. I entered the water in crystal-clear coves where the blue deepens at the bottom: snorkeling, curious fish, rocky seabeds, and meadows of Posidonia seagrass that looked like underwater carpets. I heard no nearby engines, no intrusive crowds: only the murmur of the sea, of my own breathing underwater. At midday, I rested in the shade of coastal scrub, eating the fruit I had brought and drinking fresh water. I watched seabirds fly, small figures cross the water, the landscape seemingly unwilling to be interrupted for me. I walked along more minor paths, explored viewpoints, sat on ancient walls, and let the landscape permeate my senses. As the boat began to pull away, I watched the island loom behind me and was surprised by how powerfully it had affected me: that silence, that raw beauty, that feeling of being in a protected treasure, not a picture-postcard tourist attraction. What makes Cabrera unique It was declared a national park in 1991 and is one of the few protected marine-terrestrial areas in Spain. It comprises some 19 islands and islets along with their surrounding waters. There is endemic flora—plants that exist only there or thrive there. Spectacular birdlife: colonies of seabirds such as shearwaters, Audouin's gulls, storm petrels, and more. Preserved seabed: living reefs, Posidonia seagrass, and marine life thriving with minimal human intervention. Regulations are in place: visits, routes, anchoring—everything is in order to preserve what makes this place so special.

I went to Cabrera Island with my husband, and overall it was an okay experience. The trip itself was good, the crew was very friendly, and the beach wasn’t crowded, which made it relaxing. One thing I think could be improved is the use of time during the 1-hour boat ride to the island. It would be nice if the crew interacted more with passengers along the way. Also, adding hammocks on the island would make it even better for relaxing and enjoying the scenery
