We've come up to Mortimer campgrounds for the past 4 years. Always clean peaceful and have Always had a great time. This year, we met there camp hosts. Very nice and knowledgeable couple about that area and the natural forest. Shared alot of information about mushrooms.. We got seriously jammed up at a close by campground called ole Betsey's campgrounds. Needed wifi service and Tom and Kelly shared the wifi with my son and I. Didn't want to involve them in the drama cause the have to work close by. So we didn't share too much. Not there problem. If you stay at Mortimer, PLEASE stay away for that country store. Lots of drug activities and the place is filthy..Get everything you need before you go to Mortimer. The closest store is 30 minutes away. Ole Betsey's is over priced and since we worked there till we couldn't deal with the nasty and drugs I can testify that the food hotdogs and sandwiches are not stored properly.. Stop by and say hi to Tom or kelly.. very respectful and knowledgeable folks. Showers and campsite are kept up. Landscaping and trimming is done very nicely.

Along our travels we camped at this location just outside of Lenoir NC. Driving up a mountain dirt road, suitable for regular cars. We past a cost little store at the hwy 90 turn off. We met a new friend Mr. Bruce Gray. The campground was a beautiful small campground with an awesome hiking trails up a creek with wading pools. Just a great couple of days!

Great National Forest campground in Wilson Creek Area. Miles of dirt roads and trailheads everywhere. This was a 2 day base for me and my son to explore. Doge friendly and nice tent pad and fire pit. We had a brand picnic table and pease and quiet. The stars were amazing as well. Highly recommended…

Excellent tent campground (also for small campers). No water or AC which is what we like. Two bathrooms with showers. So many trails within a 20 minute drive.. and the loop trail 7 mile around the campground is very nice (the part of the trail just north of the campground needs to be cleared due to the hurricane so it's a bit tricky right now).
