A challenging but worthwhile climb. Almost the entire route is shaded by aspen trees and some conifers. The path winds through wild rose bushes, zigzagging and offering beautiful views. Once at the top of the caves, you can either continue down to the road or return the way you came. A highly recommended route.

Tough start (1.8 kilometers uphill). Somewhat unclear which hike you are taking. The name Caves Trail is not listed (should be #409); the hike is later called Walrod Trail. The descent is much longer, 5 kilometers, and ends with a long stretch on an unpaved (car) road.

Fun little gem of a hike. Trail is tricky to find the front of the cave.
