🚂 Virginia Creeper Trail Conservancy Red Caboose — Damascus, VA Don’t walk past the red caboose! 🚂❤️ Right along the Virginia Creeper Trail in Damascus, this historic-looking rail car is actually a little shop and Welcome Center run by the Virginia Creeper Trail Conservancy. I loved getting to step inside a caboose and browse trail merchandise—and the best part is that merchandise sales help support the maintenance and preservation of the Virginia Creeper Trail. The gentleman working when we visited was dressed in railroad conductor attire and was so kind and welcoming. And, as a bonus, this was the only shop where I finally found the Virginia Creeper Trail T-shirt I wanted in an XS! 🙌 The location right on the trail makes it an easy stop, and I loved that my purchase was also a small way to support the trail. Definitely stop in if you're exploring Damascus—especially if you want a souvenir that gives back to the trail. 🌲🚂 *NOTE: August 2026 Post - Hurricane Helene Bridges 16 + 17 currently closed The Abingdon to Damascus section is still definitely worth the trip!
