This 0.75 mile (1.5 mile) moderate-difficulty hike is worth your time. The vast majority of tourists sadly never get to see Deadwood or the surrounding valley from this 5,200 foot elevation overlook. Unless you decide to begin the hike via the Moriah Cemetery, this hike is free. That being said, halfway up the steep trail, you will encounter Seth Bullock's gravesite; it helps to know the Deadwood who's who before getting to his gravesite.

This is a beautiful hike. Would like to do again. Great views and if you're willing to go off trail a little, it's worth climbing to the top of Mt Moriah! A 360° view looking down over Deadwood.
