Refreshing Nature and Streamside Views at Cox Mountain Trailhead in Durham, NC

Very peaceful trail, have been here a few times and there’s not too much foot traffic on this trail. The time I went with my friend, we saw so many critters on the trail! The trail is relatively easy, there are definitely some uphill, but they are not too difficult. The trail is almost completely shaded except for two small spots on the loop where you can view the towers, which is pretty cool. I would recommend this trail for families, children, and pets for sure!

Not well maintained the bridge is out ..

6-27-21 Few's Ford access in Eno River State Park. The trailhead is at the last parking lot, also the largest lot, and is a large picnic area. Bathrooms and trash receptacles are here as well as a shelter. This is a 4.1 mile loop. It has a high canopy, mostly red clay, with roots and rocks throughout. Would guess this is a moderate trail as to the ages I saw walk this today. Children and seniors were partaking. The clay was wet today and more slippery than muddy. The beginning has some stairs down to the river, wooden planks, and then a suspension bridge. Wobbly but stable. Would assume this is the main attraction for this trail. Beyond the bridge is a steady climb. It isn't strenuous but you will notice the elevation change. A gradual steady descent will ensue until you get to the riverbank again. Some outcropping, rocks, roots, along the riverbank but not as much and not quite as scenic as Holden Mill Trail. But a lot easier walk along the riverbank. The last bit is wide, mostly flat, with straw. You eventually return to the suspension bridge and then the wooden plank stairs back to the picnic area/parking lot. Great for all ages and abilities with just enough variation to make it a great trail.

It’s a nice place with Eno river and suspension bridge on the trail!! Loved the silence of the nature!!!

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.
