Scenic Coastal Escape at Beverly Triton Nature Park

It's a beautiful beach close to home, and I loved it because my son could enjoy the beach and sand, and we did too. It had a great, peaceful atmosphere. I loved it.

Disappointing and Inconsistent Experience Unfortunately, our family had a very disappointing experience at Beverly Triton Nature Park. We brought our dogs with us and were prepared to manage them responsibly. One of our dogs is reactive and can become overstimulated, so we take precautions to keep him and everyone around him safe. He was wearing a muzzle and a blindfold as part of our efforts to manage his triggers. He may look intimidating because of these precautions, but that does not mean he is dangerous or that he should automatically be excluded from public spaces. We were initially told that dogs were not allowed in the swimming area, so we complied and began moving toward the designated area for dogs. However, we were then asked to leave because our dog was perceived as intimidating. What was especially frustrating was seeing another dog swimming unleashed in the swimming area, despite us being told that dogs were not permitted there. The rules felt inconsistently enforced. There were also other issues during our visit. The water in the swimming area appeared dirty, and we witnessed people smoking marijuana around children, which made the environment uncomfortable for families. We completely understand that parks have rules and that staff have to consider everyone’s safety. However, responsible dog owners who are actively managing their animals should not feel singled out simply because a dog looks intimidating. If the park has specific rules regarding reactive dogs, muzzles, or certain equipment, those rules should be clearly communicated and applied consistently to everyone. Overall, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. There are plenty of ways to address safety concerns without immediately making responsible families leave, especially when they are actively trying to follow the rules.
