About This Adventure Destination

Perito Moreno Glacier: Located in the heart of Santa Cruz Province, Argentina, the Perito Moreno Glacier is an awe-inspiring natural wonder. This massive ice formation sits majestically in Los Glaciares National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its striking beauty and ecological value. The glacier spans 30 kilometers, and unlike many of its counterparts, it continues to advance rather than recede, making it a rare spectacle for visitors. Surrounded by rugged mountains and lush forests, the glacier offers a pristine view of nature’s grandeur.

With its reflective icy blue hues and towering ice walls that reach up to 74 meters above the water, Perito Moreno is an idyllic destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike. This site is renowned not only for its visual allure but also for its iconic ice calving events, where massive chunks of ice detach and crash into the lake below—a breathtaking natural phenomenon. Tourists are also charmed by the park's diverse wildlife, including condors and guanacos.

Founded as a national park in 1937, this region has drawn enthusiastic explorers for decades, offering them a rare glimpse into a frozen world. It stands as a living testament to the planet’s glacial beauty and preservation efforts. From panoramic viewpoints to close-up glacier encounters, Perito Moreno Glacier remains a must-visit highlight in Patagonia's rugged landscape.

This is where you can take a trekking tour on the Perito Moreno Glacier. This experience began in the early 1990s when local explorers and guides pioneered a safe path across the glacier. Hielo y Aventura, the operator of this tour, has a decades-long tradition of working with the National Park Service to protect the glacier ecosystem while maintaining an exclusive access route for travelers. This location marks the starting point for this trek, and there are lodges where you can change your shoes.

This is the place where, after a short group hike, they fit you with crampons and give you a briefing on how to use them. The scenery is incredible, and the chance to walk along a portion of the glacier is amazing. It's well worth the effort to walk and see the crevasses and caves that the ice has carved out. And at the end, a small glass of whiskey with chocolate is the perfect finishing touch to the excursion. Highly recommended!!!
