Editorial Assessment

While not a natural formation, the park's blend of history and natural scenery makes it a compelling visit. However, the primary feature is human-made, so it does not score highly in natural uniqueness alone.

It's a fascinating archaeological site with a rich history and few visitors. You can climb some of the temples. Surrounded by jungle, you might see spider monkeys and countless birds along your route.

This is where they filmed Survivor: Guatemala. We got very close to howler monkeys. The sunset from the top of one of the temples of Survivor was neat. Tourist groups only come here at sunset. The entrance fee is only 80 quetzales compared to 150 quetzales at Tikal. The temples aren't quite as impressive as Tikal, but there is a beautiful view of the water here.

It's a bit far from Flores, but well worth the trip. You'll see lots of nature (monkeys, birds, etc.) and you can climb several pyramids. The sunset is incredible.
