About This Adventure Destination

Yampah Spa & Vapor Caves in Glenwood Springs, Colorado offers a one-of-a-kind wellness experience centered around natural geothermal steam caves. Carved into the mountain’s bedrock, these ancient vapor caves are heated by underground hot springs that release warm, humid mineral-rich air to create a soothing atmosphere. This unique geological phenomenon provides a natural steam bath that has been used for centuries by Native American tribes who recognized its healing properties.

Guests enter a steep staircase carved from stone leading into the dimly lit caves, where the air is thick with warm steam and traces of sulfur from active geothermal activity. The caves invite quiet reflection and deep relaxation, supported by cooling water stations and hand towels to help manage the intense heat. Above ground, a sunlit solarium with lounge chairs offers a place to rest and hydrate while enjoying views of the surrounding Colorado Rockies.

The vapor caves’ combination of heat, humidity, and natural minerals promotes detoxification, muscle relaxation, and mental calm. Visitors often describe the experience as grounding and rejuvenating, making it perfect after outdoor adventures or as a dedicated day of self-care. The spa also features additional treatments like massages and body scrubs, complementing the vapor session with hands-on pampering.

My wife and I visited Yampah Spa for the second time, and it was just as incredible as we remembered. We started with the mineral bath soak, which was wonderfully relaxing and the perfect way to unwind before our two-hour vapor cave experience. The caves are such a unique, peaceful experience—warm, restorative, and exactly what we needed. The staff was welcoming, the facility was clean, and the whole atmosphere made for a memorable couples’ getaway. We’ll definitely be back again!
