Discover Limalimo Lodge: A Tranquil Escape Near Ethiopia's Simien Mountains

One of the best lodges. Clean, quiet, and well organized.

We organised a 3n hiking trip to the Simien Mountains through Limalimo lodge. From the very first email, everything was extremely smooth and easy and ran like clockwork. They organised for us to have an exceptional team, including guide, scout and cook, to ensure that we were best placed to find wildlife and have a very comfortable camping experience. The driver was extremely safe. I think it is perhaps worth emphasising how safe we felt in the Simiens and how safe it currently is. There were a couple of army check points, but we were simply waved through, and there was no evidence at all of any issues in the area. The Simiens are also absolutely stunning, packed full of incredible creatures. In keeping with Limalimo's excellent hospitality and kindness, en route from the mountains to the airport we dropped into the lodge, were welcomed with coffee and given a room to shower and repack in. The hotel and specific room are possibly the most beautiful I've ever been too, with incredible views across the mountains, and I'm already trying work to work out how to come back for a visit to the lodge which felt like paradise. Thank you Shif and Julia - we so hope to be back sooner rather than later!

I stayed here 2 nights with a small group tour. The facilities are very nice. The room and bathrooms are very nice and include a radiant heater for the cold nights. They even provided hot water bottles to warm the beds. Breakfasts were excellent and included made to order eggs. Our package included water, soft drinks, beer and wine. There is a nice terrace with a fire pit views of the mountains. They have fireplaces in the dining room and lounge. The room buildings are spread out with some (Rm 11) a bit of a hike to the main building. Filtered water is available at the bar to refill your water bottled. Staff are all extremely helpful. The lodge doesn’t offer WiFi though there is cell service (hit and miss between E, 3G, LTE). I would recommend for those visiting the Simien Mountains National Park.
