Immediately after arriving in the Garmisch area, my family and I went on a hike to the Höllentalklamm in the afternoon. There is no entrance fee, but parking in the valley is expensive. Tickets cost €13 for a fixed 12-hour parking period. On the day in question at the beginning of October 2024 it was very rainy and cool. It was probably due to this fact that it was very slippery in some parts of the path, which required great care when ascending and descending in order to avoid falls. Overall, the climb requires some fitness and sturdy shoes. Even though the mountains were covered in clouds that day, the hike was still beautiful and the panorama was worth seeing. Due to the weather getting worse, we stopped this tour at about 1/2 of the way and went back into the valley. On one of our next visits we will walk the route again in sunny weather.

Breathtakingly beautiful. Great place to hike. We hiked up to the gorge, thru it, out the other side all the way up to the hutte for lunch and then reversed back down. It was 2070 elevation gain and 9.2 miles. Take a rain jacket as the gorge drips all over
