Kirkjufell is the sole redeeming geographical trait, but it is completely overshadowed by the miserable quality of the property itself. Being in town does not compensate for an unlivable stay. • Room & Sleep Quality: 1.0/10 — Absolute bottom tier. Dingy, cramped, and dreadfully outdated with thin, sagging mattresses and practically nonexistent soundproofing. You will hear every door slam, hallway conversation, and plumbing rattle. Zero comfort, zero rest. • Service & Hospitality: 1.5/10 — Indifferent, dismissive, and absent when needed. The front desk operates with complete apathy, treating basic guest inquiries as an inconvenience. • Amenities & Dining: 1.0/10 — Utterly dismal. The "breakfast" is stale, uninspired, and barely passable. Thin Wi-Fi, rundown common areas, and zero effort put into guest comfort or upkeep. The Standout: The checkout desk on the way out. Ken’s Tip: Avoid at all costs. Drive past Grundarfjörður or stay elsewhere on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (like Stykkishólmur or Hellnar)—do not ruin your trip sleeping here. The Verdict: The absolute worst hotel experience to date. Completely neglected, overpriced for what it delivers, and an outright disaster and rip off. Do not book under any circumstances.

I recommend this hotel. The welcome was friendly, and we had a spacious and clean room. The only downside is the location, as there's quite a bit of truck traffic, which generates noise.

Excellent location in town near the harbor with views of Kirkjufell. Rooms could use some maintenance; the second floor has no elevator, making it a bit tiring for those with heavy luggage.

Calling this place a "hotel" is a disgrace. Besides the incredibly indifferent reception – since when does check-in consist of just a sheet of paper and keys left on the counter? – the quality of the rooms is deplorable. Run away! We had booked a room for three. As the person who ended up sleeping on the "extra" bed, I can only advise against such a terrible establishment that cares so little about the quality of its services. An old sofa bed without a mattress, hard as a rock. At the price of the night, it's simply unacceptable. And as for breakfast, at €20 it's ridiculous. A bare minimum service that is absolutely inadequate. In the end, everything about this hotel reflects the owners: it's awful and shameful. Before leaving, we explained the disastrous night we had just spent to one of the employees. She tried to contact her boss four times, without success. If you have the choice between spending the night in this hotel or sleeping in your car, the second option will be much less disappointing.
