Love it here! Crystal clear water great for wading, splashing, even some short tubing rides. Parking is limited. We were here on a very slow day and there were more cars in the parking lot than you would expect. The bathrooms are disgusting chemical toilets so use those at your own risk.

I took my dog for a hike in Fires Creek. Leatherwood Falls is right across the creek from the picnic area but you have to wade to get a good view. You can see the upper section of the waterfall by hiking the Leatherwood Loop from the picnic area. After checking out the falls, we hiked up Rim Trail as far as Bristol Trail and then came down and looped back on the forest road. Rim Trail is over 25 miles along the rim surrounding Fires Creek and mainly for backpacking. But there are enough connecting trails to make day-hike loops possible. There were a few nice views from the trail, but it would be a lot better in winter. When we finished our hike, there were lots of people floating and wading in the creek, a popular activity in summertime. It's out of the way, but worth a visit if in the area.

Beautiful place with Leatherwood falls & a great area to float or swim. Bathroom Facility needs a lock on the only bathroom! At least it had toilet paper...:-)
