This is a really long trail, if you do not have a day to spare, find a shorter trail. The hike end to end from the trail head to the fire station on top of Yellow Mountain is 6.35 miles and the way back is the same path, so 12.7 miles to complete the trail. I did it in 5 hours with a short lunch break at the top. Anyone in good health and cardio conditioning could do the trail between 5-6 hours. The trail itself is not difficult, but the trail is overgrown in places and you really have to be careful as roots and rocks cover long stretches of the trail. You will climb up and down three mountains including Yellow, so there are also lots of uphill and downhill sections. Fortunately the inclines are not too steep. Only two short sections of switchbacks on the first mountain and Yellow Mountain would be somewhat hard. There are not a lot of views along the way, but the trail is also well covered almost the entire way, so you are not so exposed to sun or elements too much. When you get to the top, that makes the journey worth it!

This was an amazing hike. Although I may not have said the same on all the inclines. It's a rugged and long trail but worth every step once you get to the summit and see the tower with its roof held down with wire cables. The wind was incredibly strong and I felt free. There are lots of blow downs but most had walk around. It's a desolate trail, in the 12 miles I didn't see another soul 😁

Roughly 13 mile hike to the summit with some ups and downs along the way. The final summit is challenging but manageable and comes with a great view at the fire tower. There can be quite a bit of snow in the winter months so be prepared to slip around or bring snow grips for your shoes. Park along the side of the road and the trail is easy to spot.
