The Balancing Marvel of Hot Springs

A fun hike with great views at the end. We weren't expecting much from this hike, but were pleasantly surprised. Although the signs say it is longer, our GPS on our phones had it at almost exactly 2 miles round trip from the trailhead. The first part is uphill, but we did not find the trail difficult. Balanced rock itself is fine, but if you go to the left side of the area above the rock, there are some really beautiful views. Would certainly visit again if we were ever in the area. We were disappointed how much trash was along the trail. We picked up as much as we could, but wish others would be more respectful of the national park.

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

A quiet hike in the woods with a hidden rock at the end. You can access this trail from the Balanced Rock trailhead. Make sure to head west, across the street from the parking area. The majority of this trail is an easy hike, until you want to get close to the balanced rock. Once you get to the end of the trail and you see a few big boulders that don’t look too impressive, that’s the time to continue down. Getting a good view involves climbing down a steep area to the side to get a better view. If you leave before then, you might wonder why the name Balanced Rock.
