A long day trip from Victoria Falls, mostly because of the terribly deteriorated road conditions with massive pot holes. Otherwise a great park. I was driven there in a regular SUV then swapped over to a proper Safari Vehicle. Saw lots of elephants, zebra, giraffe, kudu and others. Had a lovely lunch at last lunch area. Very clean facilities. It may be a long day but it’s worth the effort.

Hwange is remote, and it shows — in both good and bad ways. The upside is that it's wonderfully quiet; because it's not easy to reach, the park sees far fewer visitors than places like Kruger, so you can go long stretches without seeing another vehicle. Getting there is the first challenge: it's about 3.5 hours from Victoria Falls, and the road is rough for most of that drive. There are signs of roadworks underway, so it may improve, but for now budget extra time and expect a bumpy ride. We chose to rent a car from Vic Falls and self drive, incidentally car hire from big Falls is some of the most expensive we have ever experienced anywhere. Strongly recommend a high clearance 4x4 just to get to the park, and in the park. Once inside, don't expect much help. The staff at the main camp were very friendly and welcoming, but not well informed — there was no park map available, and nobody could offer real guidance on where to go or what to see. Download offline maps before you arrive, because you'll likely be navigating on your own unless you opt for the guided tours. We drove about 450kms over 3 days in park looking for wildlife. Wildlife was sparse to say the least, it was not unusual to drive for more than an hour and see nothing at all. We were blessed to see a brief lion sighting, we also saw ostrich, elephants, giraffe, zebra, Impala and deer etc. Overall, a beautiful and peaceful park, but the lack of infrastructure, wildlife and guidance made it hard to make the most of the visit. Given the time, cost, and effort to get there, we won't be rushing back.

Man like Lazarus was the best. Saw so many animals including lions and cheetah 10/10 experience would definitely recommend
