Hiking the Scenic Trails of Wanderweg zum Oeschinensee

I recommend taking the cable car nearby. It's expensive, but part of the hike is difficult. Anyone can do it, but no one does it easily; it's hard work. If you have a backpack with food and equipment, it's extra weight to carry to the top. I advise bringing a rain jacket in case the weather changes. The central part of the route is difficult, and you have to suffer to get there. No one has posted photos of the difficult part, only photos of the easy parts of the hike. If you want to relax, take the cable car up. There's a snack bar and two restaurants. All of this costs money, of course, but at least you'll be comfortable going to see the lake.

It's magnificent, life in the mountains, etc. The only downside is the construction down below, but apart from that, everything is magnificent. (n3al sheytan en bécane qui va au festival cannes avec David becam)

The road this way is closed and not accesible, I recommend just taking the cable car by the other side of the river. (If you do end up here 🤣 just keep going towards the small bridge that gets you to the other side of the river, continue going till you see other signs of the closed road, don't take those but follow the car road and you'll then see a path to get to the normal open path, you just have to hike up and cross the plastic wall)

As of today (Aug 22, 2025), this place is closed off. Don’t try going there — I did, and it was super hard and pretty dangerous. If you’re heading to Lake Oeschinen, just look up “Laufkraftwerk Kandersteg Zilfuri.” That’s a power station across the river. Walk uphill for 2 minutes from there, and you’ll find a trail on your left. It’s the way most people go, and it’s much easier. If you’re already here, just search “Grillplatz.” That trail connects with the road you’re on. Believe me, it’s the closest and safest way to cross the river. Don’t try any other way — you’ll just end up down at the riverbed, which is really dangerous.

A hike accessible to all levels in spring, summer, and autumn, with superb views from the heights and a mountain water source during the hike, I highly recommend it.
