It’s hard to imagine genuine five-star accommodation and five-star service in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Given the obvious logistical challenges of operating somewhere so remote, you almost expect to make a few compromises. At Sable Alley, there simply weren’t any. The camp is beautiful — comfortable, elegant and incredibly well run, yet still completely immersed in the wilderness. You are right in the middle of the wild, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Delta, while somehow receiving the level of comfort, food and service you would expect from an excellent five-star hotel. A special mention has to go to Kam, our guide, who was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of the wildlife and the Delta is exceptional, but what stood out just as much was his genuine passion for what he does. He was patient, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and simply great company throughout our time there. He added enormously to the whole experience. The rest of the staff were equally impressive. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and to accommodate whatever you might need, always with warmth and without the service ever feeling forced or overly formal. What makes Sable Alley particularly special is that all this comfort never takes away from the feeling that you are somewhere genuinely wild and remote. You can enjoy exceptional service and beautiful accommodation, and then look outside and be reminded that you are in the heart of one of Africa’s great wildernesses. There is very little more one could reasonably ask for. A genuinely exceptional experience and, quite simply, a perfect rating from us.

Everything about this place is special. The people, the lodging, the game viewing, the food… it is all top notch. The staff is unbelievably welcoming and friendly; knowledgable and hard working- they’re so wonderful it makes it hard to leave. The game viewing and guides are the best of the best (shout out CJ!) We saw things that were worthy of a Nat Geo documentary nearly every day & learned a ton about tracking, the land, and the animals in the process. The accommodations are beautiful, the reserve is stunning and diverse, and the food was 10/10 throughout our stay. I will be coming back here! If you’re on the fence do not hesitate to book Sable Alley- this place is really special.
