Little Bigelow is a great mountain for both novice and pro alike. 1800’ elevation gain…under 7 miles (round trip), no hand over hand spots and great views when you get to the top. Little Bigelow TH is on Old dead river road. Once you pull in, there are several amenities in the area. There is a porta-potty in the parking lot. There is first come/first serve free camping sites, there is a kayak/canoe portable as well as a foot trail to the lake. Once parked, you need to leave the parking area and head away from how you drove in…approximately 100’ down the road (and on the left) is the trailhead, marked with traditional AT signage (do *not* take the first left as this is the ATV trail). The summit isn’t obvious (it is tucked behind a massive boulder)…but if you see signs for further one summits (Avery’s, Horn, etc) then you’ve gone too far! Overall, one of our favorite hikes in the region, regardless of season.

Trailhead is a little ways further down the road from the parking lot. Trailhead in parking lot only leads to a campsite. Turn right out of the lot and trailhead is on the opposite side of the road. Great hike - summit is 3 miles in, though the trail keeps going along the ridge. Gorgeous views.
