Mount Karakuni (1700m), one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, Kirishima Mountains This mountain is surrounded by areas where volcanic activity can be felt. Starting from the Ebino Plateau trailhead, the ascent to the highest point of Mount Karakuni takes 70 minutes, and the descent takes 55 minutes.

I climbed it 30 years ago. The view is spectacular. There is a Shinto priest who is like a hermit. I couldn't keep up with the speed at which he descended the mountain. He went down so fast that I didn't even think about joining him. I also found a strange, living, living, dog-like creature, but I wonder what it was.
